We offer classroom theory, online and practical courses as part of the RYA Sail Cruising and Power Boat Schemes.
We are also an International Certificate of Competence (ICC) test centre. Practical courses can be on a private or public basis depending on whether or not you wish to share the boat and instructor.
We can also provide training on your own boat providing it meets some basic safety requirements.

SunSea Yachting offers private tuition sailing courses for couples, families and groups of friends of all abilities. Private tuition means you don’t have to share the boat with strangers. Having your own instructor on a yacht by yourselves allows us to offer more individual attention than is often possible on a group course. It also ensures that we can tailor courses to meet the specific needs of everyone onboard.
Having an instructor to yourselves allows you to progress at your own pace and you can enjoy privacy as well as plenty of space and comfort.
You can bring up to five people on a private RYA course. If you come with fewer people, you’ll receive more individual attention.
You can share in the decisions about the type of places you want to visit, whether you prefer peaceful bays or busy harbours. You can start the day whenever you want to (within reason) and take your evening meal at whatever time you wish.
We always make sure students learn as much as they want; we don’t restrict ourselves to the syllabus if there is time to teach beyond it.
We can run a private course for just one person but you’ll need someone on board to crew for you. We can provide one of our qualified staff as crew in addition to your instructor.

SunSea Yachting can supply an instructor to give you tuition, either on your own yacht or on any suitable boat that you have chartered, including catamarans. Tuition can be from a few hours to a couple of weeks.
Own Boat Tuition is a great way of getting to know your own boat better, sail her better and, often more importantly, ‘park’ her better. We can tailor the training schedule to meet your individual requirements.
If you are chartering and have plenty of sailing experience but no certificate we can sail with you for the first five days of your charter, taking you through the RYA Day Skipper syllabus.
Once you have your certificate you can then continue your sailing holiday on your own. Your crew can take a Competent Crew course at the same time.
The ICC is a useful certificate to have as most European countries, including Turkey and Greece, require you to hold a certificate of competence when chartering a yacht or operating your own vessel. The ICC will generally be accepted where proof of competence is required.
Getting your ICC can be quick and simple and will allow you to enjoy the freedom of yachting or power boating in the beautiful waters of the Mediterranean. So, if you are planning to sail or cruise within Europe and the Mediterranean it is a good idea for skippers to hold the International Certificate of Competence (ICC).
Holders of RYA Power Level 2 Certificates or RYA Day Skipper Practical Certificates can already apply to the RYA for an ICC. If you do not hold any of these certificates then you can take a direct practical assessment. SunSea Yachting is an ICC test centre for Sail and Power and can provide its clients with the assessment which is part theory and part practical. The test lasts approximately half a day to a day and can be taken on your own boat or one provided by us.
The eligibility rules can be quite complicated so please contact us to discuss your requirements, or click on the link below.
All our yachts are coded Turkish Commercial specification and inspected annually by the RYA, all are safe , reliable, fully equipped and well maintained.
