Booking: A 50% deposit is required to confirm all bookings. Deposits are not refundable. The balance is due two calendar months before the start of the course. Full payment is required for online courses at the time of booking. In the event of non-payment we will offer your place to others on our waiting list and the deposit will be forfeited.
Registration: All Students are required to complete registration documents and agree to SunSea Yachting holding their personal information. This will never be shared with third parties.

Cancellation: In the event of cancellation prior to the final payment being due only the deposit will be forfeited. If the cancellation is after the date of final payment we will try to resell your place. If we are unable to resell your place all fees will be forfeited. If we are able to resell your place, subject to availability and at the company’s discretion, your payment may be transferred to an alternative date. Any student who fails to arrive without notifying the school, for any reason whatsoever, including illness will automatically forfeit the total monies paid
In the event of us having to cancel the course for any reason, you will be offered alternative dates, if the dates are not convenient a full refund of course fees will be given.
We will not be liable for refunding any other expenses like travel, accommodation and payment costs. SunSea Yachting will not be liable at any time for claims or expenses caused by circumstances beyond our control including Government or travel restrictions, sickness, accident, travel delays, weather, strikes, war or civil unrest.
What’s Included: Except for Own-Boat Tuition, all course fees include RYA materials, lunch and refreshments for classroom theory courses. Onboard breakfasts (cold) and basic lunches, are provided for public and group practical courses, evening meals are usually taken at restaurant jetties that require those onboard to purchase a meal. In those instances, each student can select the menu item of their choice and their meal plus a share of the instructors meal, will be at their expense. Mooring and other local fees, fuel and gas are included. Private courses include RYA materials, all other costs, including the Instructors, are the responsibility of the client.
Own-Boat Tuition: Own-boat courses are offered for boat owners. Multiple students, up to five, can be instructed, providing they are immediate family and close friends of the boat owner. The boat will need to be seaworthy and carry suitable safety equipment. We will inspect the vessel before the tuition begins and may insist that additional equipment be supplied (by the owner) in order to ensure the safety of the vessel and crew. The owner remains responsible for the craft throughout the course and for insuring the craft for the tuition. All costs for mooring, fuel, are transit log fees are the responsibility of the owner. Provisioning and onboard meals, including for the Instructor and any crew, are supplied by the owner and at his/her expense. The Instructor and any crew will also require their own cabin for the duration of the tuition, if overnight.
RYA Certificates: SunSea Yachting has high standards of instruction and applies RYA guidelines on the issue of certificates. Certificates will not be issued if, in the opinion of the instructor, the student has not reached the necessary standard. The Chief Instructor’s decision is final.
Complaints: If you have any issues then you must inform the relevant staff immediately and unless absolutely impossible, our staff will deal with any issues there and then. If an issue persists, submit your complaint in writing to the Chief Instructor, who will investigate as quickly and objectively as possible, taking any appropriate action and responding back to you in writing.
Beyond the above, you may make a complaint to the RYA. In the case that the complaint is received by the RYA, they will notify us and ask to comment on the points raised and we shall fully co-operate in an investigation.
RYA Interactive and your data: To enable access to your online course we need to share some of your personal data with the RYA via your user profile in www.ryainteractive.org. This learning management website is hosted and maintained by a third party called Learning Pool, who will not use your personal information for any reason other than enabling your course.
Your name and email address will be entered on www.ryainteractive.org in order to create your user account. On your first access to the site, you will be asked to enter your address and date of birth. You will have access to the site for one year in order to complete your online course. During this period, your personal information will be held on the website by Learning Pool and be available to this training centre and the RYA for the purpose of managing your course.
Instructional support will be provided by this training centre for a period of one year from the date of your course booking.
On completion of your course, your name, email, date of birth and address will be transferred to the RYA’s central database for the purpose of recording details of the course and any certification you gain as a result of it. This information allows the RYA to record your certification, to update any records they may already hold about you or your qualifications and to verify your certificate if required. After one year from the date of your enrolment on the course, your user account will be removed from www.ryainteractive.org.
